After Felix Agu tested positive for the coronavirus, Tahith Chong was categorized as somebody in close contact with Agu and therefore entered a 14-day quarantine at home, following the regulations of the Bremen health authority. Chong has now been allowed to leave quarantine early. The quarantine was initially imposed as Agu was symptomless at the time of his positive test, meaning that his contacts had to be traced back over a longer period of 7 days. Chong and Agu shared a room for the away trip to Freiburg, meaning that the winger was categorised as a close contact of Agu.

After Felix Agu, who was infected by one of his personal friends at the beginning of the week, started showing typical coronavirus symptoms in the last few days, the period of time in which he may have been infectious was reduced to 48 hours, according to the Robert Koch Institute. This meant that Chong need no longer quarantine in line with advice from the Bremen health authority. The Netherlands U21 international is now available to head coach Florian Kohfeldt for Sunday’s Bundesliga match against TSG Hoffenheim.
